This is an original production made miniature background flying car casting created for the classic 1997 science fiction action film, The Fifth Element.
A variety of miniature flying vehicles were used to create the bustling airborne traffic in New York City. These included commercial taxis, police cars, luxury vehicles, and everyday commuter cars, all meticulously crafted to populate the sky.
This particular model was created to fill the background with these essential vehicles, adding depth and realism to the scenes. The flying cars are a crucial visual element, establishing the film’s futuristic setting in the 23rd century and enhancing the immersive experience for viewers.
The model consists of two separate pieces and constructed from fiberglass and measures approximately 21.5" x 10" x 6.5".
It remains in good condition, with minimal additional wear from production use.
In the 23rd century, a cab driver named Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis) unexpectedly becomes the central figure in the battle to save Earth from an impending cosmic threat. The threat comes in the form of a giant ball of pure evil heading toward Earth, set to destroy all life.
The key to stopping this apocalypse is the "Fifth Element," a supreme being named Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) who embodies the power to unite the other four elements (earth, air, fire, and water) to thwart the evil force. Leeloo, who is initially confused and disoriented after being regenerated from ancient DNA, must team up with Korben. Together, they race against time to retrieve four mystical stones representing the elements.
They face numerous obstacles, including the sinister industrialist Zorg (Gary Oldman), who is allied with the evil force, and an army of alien mercenaries. With the help of a priest named Vito Cornelius (Ian Holm) and a flamboyant radio host named Ruby Rhod (Chris Tucker), Korben and Leeloo navigate through various adventures and challenges.
"The Fifth Element" is a visually stunning sci-fi film directed by Luc Besson, blending action, humor, and romance in a futuristic setting.
